Privacy Policy
PastWeatherInfo is a static website that runs entirely in your browser. We do not run our own servers, accounts, or user database, and we do not sell or share personal information.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. The site stores a single preference in your browser's localStorage โ your chosen light or dark theme (mr-theme). This never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.
Third-party requests
When you search for a place or a date, your browser sends requests directly to these open data providers so it can look up coordinates and weather. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests:
- Open-Meteo โ historical and live weather.
- Zippopotam โ US ZIP code lookup.
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim โ place and postcode search.
- India Post PIN API โ Indian PIN code lookup.
These services may see your IP address and the place or date you searched, as is normal for any web request. We never attach your identity to those queries.
Cookies & tracking
No cookies, no analytics, no advertising trackers.
Terms of Use
By using PastWeatherInfo you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Free, as-is service
The site is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any figure shown is accurate for your purpose.
Acceptable use
- Use the site for personal, informational, and non-commercial purposes.
- Do not attempt to overload, scrape aggressively, or disrupt the underlying data providers.
- Respect the individual terms of Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap, Zippopotam, and India Post when relying on their data.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the creator of PastWeatherInfo is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the site or reliance on the weather information it displays.
Data Disclaimer
The weather values shown are model-based estimates, not official station records.
- Historical figures come from the ERA5 reanalysis dataset via Open-Meteo, which blends station, satellite, and balloon observations into a consistent global model going back to 1940.
- Temperatures are typically within about 1°C of nearby station records, but can differ more in mountainous or coastal areas.
- Rain and snow for a single point can differ noticeably from what one specific gauge measured. Treat precipitation as a strong indication rather than a legal record.
- The "Latest" reading for the current year comes from a live forecast feed and may be revised.
Do not use PastWeatherInfo as the sole source for legal, insurance, aviation, or safety-critical decisions. For official records, consult your national meteorological service.
